Hi! I'm Thomas
I was born in Annapolis Maryland and am currently a freshman at Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis pursuing a major in Finance. I further my passion as an active member of the student Investment Fund as a Senior Analyst, with a goal to be an Assistant Portfolio Manager as a sophomore. Aside from Finance, in my free time, I love to study and play chess, stay active in the gym and outdoors, build computers and develop AI, and travel the world to experience various cultures and environments. This portfolio is meant to illustrate how my background, strengths, and interests are shaping my view towards the Financial Industry and my path towards Investment Banking/Private Equity.
More about me and my Educational Journey
Growing up, I always looked up to my mother, who grew up impoverished and immigrated to the US and became a strong female leader and the CEO of many widely recognizable companies. Being surrounded by so much success and inspired by the ambition of my mother, I myself began to set high aspirations for myself at a young age, and for as long as I can remember I desired to follow in my mom's footsteps and enter the business world with the goal of truly making an impact. I started to take action in my journey in high school at the Severn School, becoming the youngest ever Portfolio Manager of the student investment portfolio, helping to manage over forty-thousand dollars across multiple different sectors such as automotive, aerospace, and financial, while also mentoring several peers. In addition to the portfolio, I and my fellow Co-Presidents of the investment club formed a team under our Teacher and my mentor Julien Meyer, whose knowledge as a UPenn graduate and decades of experience in Finance helped us to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to win the National Personal Finance Challenge, beating out tens of thousands of other participants throughout multiple rounds of quiz bowls and intense case study competitions, proving we are some of the most financially knowledgeable high-schoolers in the country. Throughout my four years in high school, I involved myself in every area of Finance of Business my school allowed, not only taking multiple financial and economics courses to grow my knowledge and skills, but also testing them against the best in country, and passing on my knowledge to my younger peers.

In this process, I became a confident and strategic leader, a humble and diligent teammate, and a visionary scholar. I not only learned many valuable skills, but I learned to look ahead and take the necessary steps to become the leader and teammate I desire to be, while also achieving that success I have aspired for since I was a young kid.

Now as a college student at Olin Business School, I not only look to continue my efforts to explore and develop in school, but also outside of it as well. As I mentioned before, I currently am a senior analyst at the student investment fund at WashU and hope to become an assistant portfolio manager as a sophomore, in addition to joining the WashU investment banking association. Outside of my business endeavors within Olin, I plan to intern this freshman summer with a boutique investment firm in New York City and enroll in certification courses to display my efficiency in excel as well as modeling courses from Wall Street Oasis. Most importantly, my passion for computers, video games, and the potential of artificial intelligence have led me to believe that shifting policy on energy regulations and the ever-growing developments on AI will change the business world forever. I plan to gain immense knowledge and skills in these areas while they are still young and new to most people in hopes that I can be a leading expert in these fields, specifically in the financial world and the implications of these things on the industry as a whole, bringing my experience with me as I move into my career.
